Ochagavía

Ochagavía marks the beginning of Chilean wine history. Founded in 1851 by Silvestre Ochagavía, it was the first winery to introduce French grape varieties to the country, thereby sparking a winemaking revolution that transformed the nation’s viticulture. Trained in France, Don Silvestre returned to Chile with the desire to replicate a model of perfection. A visionary, scholar, and perfectionist, he laid the foundations for modern viticulture. His legacy endures to this day as a symbol of heritage, tradition, and authenticity. Considered the father of Chilean viticulture, his spirit lives on in every wine from the winery: classics with identity, true to their origins, and worthy of standing the test of time. Since 1982, Ochagavía has been part of Carolina Wine Brands, consistently delivering a winemaking philosophy true to its essence.
